Overview

The Sensirion SHT15 is a calibrated digital humidity and temperature sensor. It can be connected to an I2C bus, however it is not I2C software compatible. It has its own serial protocol. Refer to the Datasheet for the software details and how to communicate to this device.

The easiest way to use this sensor is to purchase it on a breakout board. These boardsare available from most hardware kit suppliers. The one we used was purchased from Sparkfun and is shown above. The board includes the pullup resisters which simplifies the hookup process.

Specifications

  • Capacitive sensor element used for measuring relative humidity
  • Temperature is measured by a band-gap sensor
  • Both sensors seamlessly coupled to a 14bit analog to digital converter and a serial interface circuit
  • Digital I2C
  • Measurement range: 0-100% RH
  • ±Absolute RH accuracy: +/- 2% RH (10…90% RH)
  • Repeatability RH: +/- 0.1% RH
  • Temp. accuracy: +/- 0.3°C @ 25°C
  • Low power consumption (typ. 30 µW)

The supply voltage of SHT1x must be in the range of 2.4 – 5.5V, recommended supply voltage is 3.3V.

Power supply pins Supply Voltage (VDD) and Ground (GND) must be decoupled with a 100 nF capacitor. Refer to Suggested Circuit below.
